This is an often talked about topic that has a rather polarized following. In terms of system filtration components that can sterilize water, the most common methods in our industry are UV and ozone. We have already covered UV and its complexities so this time we will cover ozone.
First, what is the difference between ozone and UV? Well, ozone is a nonselective oxidizer that breaks down anything that is organic by rupturing the cell wall. UV changes the DNA structure of the organism through irradiation. For UV to be effective, the UV light must penetrate the organism and cannot be shaded by particulates in the water flow. Ozone, on the other hand, can be effective even in less clear water.

Meet the Team
Amy Stone has over 20 years of experience with designing, building and managing aquaculture and aquaponics greenhouses as well as zoo and aquarium filtration systems. She has managed hatcheries, live feeds and grow-out for marine finfish as well as an aquaponics greenhouse. She previously worked at Aquatic Eco-systems for over 14 years before opening her own company after AES was acquired.
Huy Tran is an aquaculture and aquaponics expert with more than 28 years of experience. After graduating with a degree in agriculture/aquaculture from the University of Hawaii, Huy worked at and managed several area farms rearing shrimp and numerous marine and freshwater fish species. For nearly two decades, he was the sales and marketing officer at Aquatic Eco-Systems, Inc. (AES). He currently consults/designs for many aquaponic and aquaculture facilities worldwide.
Robert Stone has an extensive background in project management and controls. His construction and low voltage wiring experience is invaluable with assisting to move our projects forward. He is also our Certified YSI Repair Specialist.
Wendy Martin has over 15 years of experience managing projects. She also manages our customer service. Wendy's project experience and understanding of customer's needs makes her an invaluable asset.
Cindy has over 20 years of experience in sourcing aquatic products for our markets. She worked at Aquatic Eco-Systems, Inc for over 17 years prior to joining our team. If you need it, she can find it!
